Can you hear me Major Tom?
November 21, 2007
It’s been an up and down week and I’ve been riding the emotional roller coaster of life. I’m coming home to Canada for 10 days on Sunday - unfortunately not for good reasons.
The down bits include:
* my surrogate dad Tom is not well..in fact, as I type this he is in surgery. I very much hope he can hold on until I am able to fly back. It sucks going home to say goodbye, but I’d rather do that than fly home for his funeral. Unfortunately, I know the end is near and my black suit is already laid out to be packed.
* The ankle is still multi coloured and I’m still hobbling along. Again, being able walk more than 10 metres will be useful for international travel in three days time
* My friend is also grieving and the time I had hoped we would be able to spend in Canada together will unfortunately be waylaid somewhat by funeral services.
There are however some good bits of the rollercoaster which is helping me keep it together right now. Including:
* A fantastic birthday dinner at Rockpool. The steak…omg..the steak. I get it why this was restaurant of the year. Pauly & Change, it’s the must eat for January..let me know and I’ll book it now!
* Not one but two great job interviews, both of which have second interviews lined up. Totally different companies - one is an insurance company, the other an AFL Footy club, but both would be great jobs and amazing challenges.
* My darling Graham has also had a very successful round of interviews, with the process ongoing.
As for the poker side of life, there has been no live poker as it would have been impossible to hobble into the poker room. There has been a little bit of online play, with this being the most interesting hand so far..
I’m such a nerd for flopping quads.
I’m out..no posting probably until I get back from Canada on December 8th.
