The Job
November 21, 2007
Today I’m enjoying my first day off since returning to the land of employment six days ago. I’m back to waiting tables again, ugh. There wasn’t much of a choice in this small little town and I’ve always hated commuting everyday to Memphis or Tunica, so at least I only have a 5 minute drive now.
I haven’t served food in a really long time; I much prefer serving drinks and bartending, but this happens to be a dry county, so no bartending here. Things are going ok so far, the tips have been good, better than I was expecting. When I go back in Friday, I’ll be on nights and I’m hoping that I get along with everyone on that shift as well as I did on days. Since it’s such a physical job, maybe I’ll lose those extra pounds I’ve put on since I worked at the casino. Yay!
The plan is that I won’t have to be there too terriblylong, as I’ve decided to get my real estate license. I’ve wanted to do that for 10 years now, but fear has always held me back. I think I’d be good at it and really enjoy it, so I’m doing it. No more second guessing myself. And no more waiting tables for the rest of my life…..
So the job thing has left little time for poker. I’ve played a bit, but not much, as I hate to play when I’m tired and I have been dog tired. Tired play = stupid play for me. After the ridiculouness that is Christmas is over, I’m heading to Tunica. Can’t wait for that.
This whole month I’ve been on extreme mother-in-law tilt and she’s not even my mother-in-law. She’s from my husband’s first marriage. Combined families come with more baggage than an Airbus A380. Maybe I’ll get enough time to post about it later this week. I think it would be helpful to spew my anger across the pages of blogger and post my thoughts on it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
