Back in Vegas
November 27, 2007
Arrived today, managed to sleep a bit on the flight and slept a couple of hours when I arrived, so feeling ok, will be straight into a $1k tournament in an hours time.
Managed to get a lake view room in the Bellagio, which is all very pleasant, shame though that the weather is mainly grey and uninspring at this time of year.
Had a quick scout around downstairs before, only notables I spotted were John Gale and Rainkhan. The tournaments here are now being played on the main casino floor (just by the main poker room and Sports Book), as they are using the Fontana Lounge for Bacarrat instead. Today’s $1,500 first event attracted 472 runners so that bodes well for the field sizes for the next couple of weeks.
UPDATE: Ok, here we go again. 8k chips at the first break (5k starting stack). Blinds 100/200 25 ante. We are 9-handed. Under the gun overbet shoves for 3,150. I’m on the button with QQ and obviously get it in aswell. He turns over KJo, two kings on the flop, well played. Literally two hands later, mid-position opens to 500. I have QQ again, and pump it up to 1,700. Obviously everyone thinks I’m on tilt from the previous hand. The initial raiser calls my reraise. The flop is a rainbow 567. We get it in. He’s got 89o. Welcome back to live donkaments in Vegas I guess, it’s as if I never left in July! Hopefully get a good nights sleep tonight (not sure if my body will co-operate though) and then see if I can break the Vegas jinx in the $2k event tomorrow.
