The Art of the Hunt and Haggle

My husband’s been driving on a suspended license for a little while now. He’s such a dummy. His CDL is our livelihood, so yesterday I spent the better part of my day off taking care of that. After going to not one, but TWO, DMVs in two states, now he is valid, legal and without the risk of going to jail or losing his job. Yay me.
Because any DMV visit is a stressful visit, I rewarded myself with a little shopping. There’s nothing like getting a good deal to make me feel better! I love going to antique and second hand stores, because you can find the most interesting items and where else can you haggle over the price? Certainly not at the mall! The hunt and the haggle are my favorite things.
There’s a new little shop on the square called The Peddler and I got to check it out for the first time yesterday. Yes, I know I’m supposed to be buying Christmas presents for the family, but they didn’t have to suffer through two DMVs in one day, now did they?
A painting caught my eye when I first walked in, but the $45 price tag made me keep walking. Then the shop owner began some small talk with me about my Dallas Cowboys sweatshirt. I meant to throw that thing away last year, but I didn’t for some reason. Everywhere I go, I get a zillion freakin comments about that shirt. I don’t even like football all that much and have to listen to They suck or Go Cowboys or whatever. So, yesterday 2 people had to inform me that Dallas was playing Green Bay today and what a great game it should be, I really couldn’t care less. LOL
Anyway, after talking football for a bit, (like I even knew what I was talking about) I decided it was a good time to start the haggle process on the painting. I also noticed an antique silver candelabra on a table. I like to use the 2 item purchase to gain a larger discount, it works wonderfully.
After some back and forth negotiations, he caved and I got the painting and the candelabra for 40 bucks. Score Dallas! 
I thought it was a good deal and as I headed to the car, my husband tilt subsided.
