Good throw

December 16, 2007

The first of the remaining four throws didn’t go to well, QQ no good yet again when I ran into the aces.

Today I woke up feeling quite positive about the three remaining tournaments. I barely had time to turn on the laptop and check my emails before the tournie started. An offline message popped up from Ariston, saying “chin up mate, result will come”….. it’s funny but that echoed exactly how I was feeling when I decided to stay in Vegas a bit longer. There were 99 runners, and at the first break I had less than my starting stack. I told Neil Channning that I always do better when I have a bad first three levels in this. Sure enough, as has been the case many times in this tournament there I was with an average stack and two tables left. I made a big preflop call against Noseyboy when he jammed on my cut-off raise, I called for a big pot with KQo, Nosey had Q9s and I held. He did brilliantly to swap 10% with me after I called preflop before our hands were turned over :-).

The final table I had bracelet winners John Gale and Alan Smurfit on my left, John was chip leader but lost a big pot with KK v AK, then he made a massive preflop jam with A9 when I had limped from the small blind with 99. No ace and I was chipleader.

Four players left and I had 171k of the 495k in play, payouts were roughly $35k/$23k/$13k/$7k, and I got the lion’s share of a $24k/$20k/$19k/$15k chop, complete with the winner’s trophy, which unfortunately is identical to the trophy I was given on the exact same Saturday night last year :-).

Need to sleep now, hope to wake up and read about a home win at Anfield to make the Premiership title race even more interesting, then will try to repeat today’s success.
