Poor Start In The $1/45

If these games aren’t beatable then I will drink a pint of my own piss! Fuck me they’re awful. I don’t know what I expected for a $1.20 buy in game but the standard of the poker in these things is an absolute joke. That being said though I didn’t cash in any of the seven I played in so I’d better watch my mouth! I knew I wouldn’t get off to the best of starts due to dropping down in stakes and the 10 minute blinds instead of the 15 minute blinds I’d become accustomed to in the 4/180 games I’ve been playing recently as it takes a little time to adjust and stop making plays that the fish just plain don’t understand.
To cut a long story short I failed to adjust to the villain’s calling ranges and failed to listen to what they were telling me through their betting. I was also being outflopped which really fucks me off because TPTK is often good enough in these games and there is of course the lovely Stars suckout, re-suckout, suckout routine it loves to do. In my first game I was pretty short with blinds 50/100 and decided to push with KTo in the SB over the BB and an MP2 open limper. MP2 snap calls with A8. I mean A8 FFS! Board comes 3T8KA and it’s fuck you Stars thanks for the 30th position! I lost with AQ vs AJ on a 9AJ flop, ran into Aces twice, had TT lose to JJ, it was just one of those days I guess where you don’t play too good and the cards are against you too! Oh I fucking bubbled my last game which was the icing on the cake!I can’t really blame anyone other than myself for not cashing. I got overly aggro in the game I bubbled and didn’t play too great in the rest of them.
My finishing places were 30 / 16 / 20 / 8 / 22 / 22 / 19 which is pretty fucking awful and I really need to get my shit together and hit a few cashes the next time I play. On a positive note, the spreadsheet I am using to record my progress is brilliant and I recommend anyone who plays MTT’s to download it from the 2+2 website as it contains everything you would desire to track your progress or lack of in my case! I’m not using Poker Tracker or PAHUD for these games either, despite multi-tabling because I don’t think I’ll run into the same guys enough to ever gather a significant sample size of their playing tendencies. I want to make more read based, rather than stat based, plays and at these stakes you only have to play your cards anyway. At the end of each post I’m going to post my cumulative stats for the games I’ve been playing since 18th December 07 on the new account.
No Step Pud tonight as he’s going to his fabulous father’s house (LOL) so I’ll probably try to fire off another 8 games to take me up to 15 played and then spend some quality time with Mrs P because she’s a bit down at the minute and stressing about all sorts of shit. We’re both uber-skint after moving house and Mrs P’s benefits etc have been stopped for up to 8 weeks due to having to re-apply with new details after her split from the previous wanker. Great time to have no cash but to make up for it we’re going to celebrate our Christmas in February and once everything is sorted we should never have to worry about cash again, and if we do then there will be something seriously wrong! A couple of months of struggle will be worth it in the end.
