Warning Bad Beat Post !!
December 20, 2007
What a bastard !!
Playing in tonight’s Mansion Aussie Millions League - see previous post - and just didn’t get any luck at the right times. I was Chip-leader early doors , and although I had dropped down to about 4th was still riding high when the cutoff made a Min Raise with the blinds at 100/50. The Small Blind called, I was in the Big Blind and thought I’d see a flop also with Ah 6h.
Flop - 6cQhAc
Small Blind bets the pot of 600, I raise to 1000 and then the Cut Off goes All-in for around 2.5k chips, the Small Blind calls him - leaving about 1k chips behind (?) - so I push All-In to get the Small Blinds extra 1k chips in play.
Cut Off - Shows QdTh (Second Pair)
Small Blind - Shows As3c (Top Pair - no Kicker)
Me - Shows Ac6c (Two Pair)
The turn comes down a blank, and the River …. another bloody Queen !!
Shortstack wins the main pot, and I don’t even manage to win the side pot as its split between me and the Small Blind (AAQQ6)
That brings me back to the pack, I hold my discipline - at least that’s been better today, now I’ve had a decent nights kip - and keep my head above water nursing a Medium to Smallish stack all the way until the blinds start getting big. Again I bide my time, luckily the 3 stacks directly to my left were in a similar chip position to me and I can steal at least once an orbit to keep my self getting to low. I then call a slightly smaller stacks push whilst holding 22 against his KJ and this almost doubles me up. Then about 5 hands later, I have about 8.5k and blinds are at 600/1200 this happens
UTG (Holding 15k)- Raises to 3k, I’ve seen him min raise before and he has usually shown down Ace -x or KQ,KJ never a monster hand
I’m about Button +3 - and push all-in holding AQ thinking he may fold anyway, but then the a shorter stack on the Button goes in also for about 4.5k. That puts around 18k in the pot giving the UTG around 3/1 to call, and he also loses very little if he beats my ahnd and the shortstack wins.
So hands are shown
UTG - TT
Me - AQ
Shorty - A2
My immediate thought was, shit that’s one out gone but comforted myself with the thought I was dominating the Shortstack, and still had the Queen as another overcard to the Pocket Tens.
Flop - 33A
What a great flop !! - Shorty can’t even beat me if he gets one of his Twos on board - the turn comes down a 9. I’m now a 80% favorite to win the hand.
The river …. a fooking Ten !!
Out in 27th - (A few points but no cash) … 3 games left to go
