Aussie Millions League 2nd Round
December 23, 2007
Played the second leg of the Aussie Millions League tonight - and again pleased with my play. Although I agree with Roland de Wolfes comments about Tournaments, from this months Poker Player - no matter how skillful you are in the latter stages you definitely need luck at the right time.
I was in second place with 8 players left, and pushed against the small stack whilst holding 77, he calls holding KK and cuts me down. Then about 5 hands later, I’m in the shortstack now and pick up 77 again - I push again and the chip leader calls me with AQ - all looks good until the river brings the Ace. When the blinds are so big you only need to get a bit of luck and you can find yourself going from shortstack to chipleader in 2 hands - or in my case the other way
Finished 7th for a prize of $125. The winner from the previous leg had gotten to the final table again, so it looks like the first prize of the Aussie Millions trip is all but sewn up, however there are cash prizes for the top 10 overall points scorers. So if I can get another final table finish I should hopefully get some return from that.
By the way Good Luck to my friend Alan Steer (Teaulc) who was in 5th of 5 at the last break. - (Edit -Thats where he finished
)
