Final Table Of A 90 Man Bounty SnG
January 23, 2008
I only played one game last night after Mrs P was on MSN most of the night chatting to a friend she’s not spoken to for four years. I’m not bothered though because I hog the laptop late evening’s most nights and I want Mrs P to get in touch with her old mates as she lost contact with a lot of them when she moved to back to Dewsbury from Burnley. Anyway, I wanted a change of pace from the frustrating $2.25 Turbo SnG’s on Full Tilt so I registered for a $3.30 90man Knockout SnG. In the lobby it states it is a turbo and a SnG but Full Tilt actually class it as a turbo MTT so give you 5 minute blind intervals and a nice 3k starting stack, allowing for some early play.
Things didn’t start too well with me being pretty card dead and my plan of limping into a few pots didn’t work either. Step Pud was very restless and woke up so Mrs P was sat with him on her knee but for some reason he wanted me so I had to sit and hold him whilst Mrs P played for me. She did a good job of following my great instructions of “Fold Bitch” and once Step Pud wriggled about towards his mum I took over again. I’d been rather quiet but managed to keep around average stack when I decided it was time to make a play. I get dealt 53o in the hijack and see a weak player in MP open limp for 160. I make it 500 and the loose button calls, as does MP. Not the best result but the button is loose and the MP pretty weak. Flop comes K63r and MP checks. I bet 999 into 1760 and they both fold. It might seem wreckless but my hand could easily have been AK there. Sometimes you just need to play any two cards but play them like the hand you are trying to represent, if that makes sense.
My stack dwindled to just over 1900 with blinds 120/240/25a and I saw KJo, the wanker’s hand, UTG and decided to push and I wasn’t too happy at the bog stack and shorter stack call! Big stack turns over AhQh, shorty shows AsJc so my King is live! Flop is QK6r and the 3 on the turn and 8 on the river let me triple up and claim my first bounty and give me a bit of a chance. Early in the next level, 150/300/25a, I limp in EP with 4h3h, why I don’t know but something told me to I guess! Big stack makes it 900 and the BB flat calls so I call getting over 4/1. Flop is Jh8hKs and somehow it gets checked around. Turn is Qh completing my weak flush and BB bets out pot so I jam, big stack folds and BB calls showing JT for third pair and an OESD on a flushed board! LMFAO. I had him on QJ or KQ at best. Not compaining as I’m now sat behind 15.5k in chips and in pretty good shape to hit the money.
Then with blinds 300/600/75a I double up a fish who would eventually knock me out of the MTT. I get AKo in the SB and make it 3k to go after the fish limps UTG. Flop comes QcJdAc and I bet pot, he calls for his last 2k and shows Qh9h! LOL, WTF etc! Turn is a fucking slag of a Queen and the river brings a 2 and I lose out on knocking another player out and on an important 10k in chips. So I’m now sat with 13.3k with the same blinds and see 77 and raise to 2625 and a guy with 9k behind him pushes all-in. I decide it’s time to race and call. He shows Ah2h and with the board playing 5d5hQdTs4c my walking sticks hold and I claim another bounty and a precious 19.5k in chips.
The final table bubble was pretty active and I didn’t have many chances to steal. I did manage to take the 800/1600/200a blinds once with Q3o and then I made a play I’m pretty happy with. A pretty active player with 24k makes it 3200 to go and I think then make it 9k with 95o, purely because there were a couple of micro stacks about. He almost times out and I have to show my monster! The bubble soon burst and I was 6/9 and in need of some chips as there were a couple of pretty big stacks around me. We were down to 7 players with blinds 1200/2400/300a and my stack was 21,120. I open push Ah4h and the fish who had Q9s early, calls showing KhJc. Flop comes Td6d3c making me a 70/30 favourite. Turn pairs the ten making me an 86% favourite but the fucking river is a gay Jack and a 42k pot slides to the fish. That would have put me 2nd in chips but meh. The fish ended up taking the whole thing down for $72. Cunt.
So a not too shabby performance and a prize of $9, also $1.50 in bounties so I’m pretty pleased. Would have been great to take the fucker down though. There’s time on my side I guess and I went deep, finishing in 12th, in my previous game so hopefully these can be profitable for me in the future. The structure and field size really suits me down to the ground so I might have to hit a few of these in the coming week or so. I’m probably going to be offline for a month due to the house move in early February and the following month will probably be taken up decorating and the like so after February 4th I could basically offline until April. It’s not a bad thing as it’ll let me study some things in Poker Stove and give me a break from the game. I’ll probably play live a couple of times to keep my finger in but that depends on still having a car or not as it’s a bit of a nightmare getting to and from the casino without relying on lifts from people. I suppose April 5th would be a good time to restart as it’s the start of a financial year but we’ll wait and see. Until then I’ll hit a few $3.30 KO games and see if I can build on my decent start.
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
