Poker Stars Takes Players to Latin America

On Monday, March 10, PokerStars invited its members to begin bidding for a spot in the Latin America Poker Tour. Online satellites were launched throughout the site, starting at just $2.20. The winners, in addition to receiving $5,000 dollar prize packages, will have the opportunity to do what can only be described as a dream for most poker players: compete against some of the world’s best in the exotic cities of Latin America.The tour begins May 3 - 8 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, then moves to San Josè, Costa Rica, and ends in Punta del Este, Uruguay. According to the PokerStars press release, each event will have an estimated 250 players. The total prize pool will easily pass $600,000 dollars, and the players will include PokerStars’ own Andre Akkari of Brazil and Humberto Brenes of Costa Rica. It is sure to be a tournament filled with fierce competition, clever strategy and fun.
