Bye Layla, hello Kimberly?
May 19, 2008
Layla Kayleigh has decided not to renew her contract as hostess with the World Poker Tour.Apparently she would prefer less travel and the ability to have more of a personal life. I know most people reading this poker blog would kill for the chance to be paid well to jet around the world to some of the world's best poker events. But it's not for Layla. Each to their own I guess...
She had this to say on her myspace page.
"WPT were kind enough to ask me back for a 2nd season, however after much thought and deliberation I decided that I really want to minimize traveling in my schedule this year, focus more on my health and personal relationships, and they were very understanding to where I was coming from."
"Might I add, that I had the most adventurous time on the road, learned so much about life and poker! and most importantly gained the most amazing friendship with my dear friend Kim Lansing (who I really hope lands the hosting position for Season 7)"
Kimberly Lansing was the online hostess for the WPT in season six. In our opinion she's more 'talented' than Layla anyway and we hope she gets the job too. She'd have to be the best bet to try and re-capture some of the popularity that Shana Hiatt enjoyed. The only thing Layla had on Kimberly was maybe the sexy British accent...That's if the WPT is still around... They are still losing money and with some management changes at GSN (the network that broadcasts the show), their long term future on TV is not guaranteed. High Stakes poker was just cancelled due to poor ratings and apparently the WPT is also struggling to attract the demographics that advertisers desire.
Let's hope they stick around.
